Le Mans: Racing for Holland pleased about sixth grid position
Racing for Holland will start the 74th Le Mans 24 Hours from a sixth grid position. In the two sessions on Thursday Jan Lammers set a fastest lap of 3’34.864. After the rain and a very slippery track on Wednesday, conditions were good today at the Circuit de la Sarthe. The sun was out in force and temperatures were high again. Jan Lammers started the session, going out first. After three laps Alex Yoong took over for a full race stint. Stefan Johansson then got a real chance to get to know the Dome S101 Hb Judd, taking over from Alex. At the end of the session Jan Lammers stepped in again for a qualifying session. After the first session Racing for Holland were in fifth. Everybody lined up at 10 o’clock for the second and deciding session of the day. Lammers went out for a few runs but was unable to better his time set at the end of the first two hours. Stefan Johansson took over from Lammers to get as much laps in the dark under his belt. In the end the team was pleased with the result and the race pace of the Racing for Holland Dome looks good. In total the team drove 83 laps, without any real problems.Jan Lammers: “I’m very pleased about the result. The car felt good all through the sessions. Maybe we could have gone some two seconds quicker, but on my fastest lap a Lola spun in front of me. The Audi’s were already clear, but we and the Pescarolo’s suffered a bit from that. After a few qualifying laps we concentrated on letting Stefan drive in the dark as much as possible”.Alex Yoong: “Our times and race pace look competitive. I did a long run today and the car felt good. I’m pleased about the qualifying result”.Stefan Johansson; “The car feels really good and easy to drive. I’m still learning to get the maximum out of the car. Today I did not push to hard, because I did not want to take to much risk in the dark. The result is good, of course we would have liked to start from fifth, but here your grid position is irrelevant 5 laps into the race”.Audi took the pole today, as expected, scoring a 1-2. The Pescarolo’s are directly behind, followed by the numer 13 Courage. Saturday at 17.00 hours the 74th Le Mans 24 Hours will kick off.
